Can one job kickstart a business? A career? A passion?
It did for me. In 2023 I navigated the tricky challenge of redesigning The Royal Cornwall Show's website. You can see the project here. RCS is Cornwall's largest annual event, which takes place at the beginning of June each year near Wadebridge. For three days, the showground is bustling with animals, families and performers of all different kinds - from showjumper to giant robot suit wearer it's a sight to behold. Encapsulating 230 years of heritage was an interesting task (to say the least) and a massive honour.
Helping the Show's digital presence live up to that esteem was a big responsibility and absolutely key to this project. After trialling different methods, prototyping in Figma and piecing together the assets and content, I landed on Webflow CMS. It was a true lifesaver. Whilst maintaining a great layout, I was able to make the content accessible and editable for the client. Simplicity and user experience was paramount. With 92.3% of internet users accessing the web through a mobile (source: datareportal), a mobile-friendly, responsive site isn't just essential, it can define your business' online success. The way a show is presented on a mobile can be critical to how a agricultural association advertises itself in the modern age. With thousands flocking to these heritage events each year, we pride ourselves on communicating historical excitement to a dedicated target audience.
