Graphics Porthleven: How Porth Studio are helping the community
Graphics for Porthleven businesses, local events and of course our own premises in the village. How do they impact the community?

We are settling into our space in Porthleven nicely. The tourists have stopped peaking their heads in, hoping for a free table at our nonexistent cafe. The locals have increasingly started peaking their heads in to check how things are going. It's a nice atmosphere.

Graphics are what we offer. Whether it is a moving graphic on a screen, a printed graphic in your hands, or a graphic overhead welcoming you into a building, we have it covered. So, what have we done in Porthleven so far? and how has it impacted our community?

Dan's first client in the village when he moved here three years ago was The Corner Deli (next door to the studio) and a relationship was formed. When they came to us for a bold new identity, we jumped at having the opportunity to make a mark on Fore Street (the main route through the village).

Dan designed an intuitive, modern logo which was to be vinyl in three of the beautiful old windows. The way it has transformed the street is exciting to say the least. With the need to adapt to several different types of customer in Porthleven, eclectic graphics are essential. When anyone from a surfer to a German family of 4 can walk through your door, having something which is instantly recognisable and iconic makes a huge difference.

Effective graphics can be under the radar. Last year we were commisioned to create wayfinding solutions and an advertisement poster for a historical community event.

Roger Hosking is a well known Porthlevener (the 7th generation to live here). His interest and fervor for Porthleven's past is infectious. When he asked us to produce some subtle, helpful signage and a beckoning poster for his Porthleven film evening, we were delighted to say yes.

Bringing well-known, as well as unknown faces together for an occasion such as this required something artistic. We used Roger's famous poem 'A Bygone Day' to set the scene and created a series of subtle and practical signs to help guests find the toilets and the donation box etc.

Graphics for events in Porthleven are among our favourite projects, providing a good experience for one and all by bringing the community together for an evening.

Finally, we can speak about our new identity bringing colour and pizzazz to Chapel Terrace, Porthleven. That's right - you heard us!

We got our signage up last week and there's nothing more satisfying than walking into a building with a distinct identity, no less when it's one you have put together yourselves. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our clients, family, friends and local businesses for helping us feel at home. We can't wait to keep providing graphics for Porthleven, design which champions the businesses which make it the unique place that it is.
